Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ER RN for a night shift acute care position requiring Cerner EMR experience and a CA RN license.

Details

  • Acute care Emergency Department with 33 total patient care rooms, 25 equipped with cardiac monitors
  • Triage area with 2 bays staffed by midlevels, RNs, and LVNs
  • Patient ratio of 1:4 with an average census of 210 patients
  • Cerner EMR experience preferred; recent experience should be noted
  • Charge nurse coverage 24/7
  • ER Techs (EMT, MA, or CNA background) assist with tech duties and EKGs
  • GE telemetry with central monitor stations at both nursing stations
  • RT and pharmacy coverage available 24/7, with Omnicell system in use
  • No IV team; ventilator management per RT
  • 12-hour night shifts, 7p-7a
  • 2 weekends required per 4-week schedule
  • Holiday coverage required for 2 out of 3 holidays
  • No floating outside of the ER
  • Up to 6 shifts of unit-specific orientation with a preceptor

Requirements

  • Active CA RN license required
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Cerner EMR experience required
  • Strong, thorough documentation skills required
  • Copy of driver's license required for consideration
  • Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

  • Provide emergency care for a wide range of patients, including routine ER cases, STEMIs, hemorrhagic strokes, and pediatric patients
  • Facility is Stroke Certified and serves as the base hospital for local EMS
  • Adheres to EMTALA regulations, requiring stabilization and treatment of all patients regardless of insurance or ability to pay
  • May be required to board patients and manage ER holds during high-volume periods
  • Navy blue scrubs required; any undershirt beneath the scrub top must be navy, white, or black
  • No floating outside of the ER department
  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
  • Candidates with prior direct employment (full-time, part-time, or PRN) at any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity Health, within the past year are not eligible
