Travel Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) Jobs – Level I Trauma ED in Peoria, Illinois
Join a fast-paced Emergency Department nursing team in Peoria, Illinois, as a Travel RN caring for adult and pediatric patients across the full acuity spectrum in a Level I trauma setting. This 13-week travel nursing assignment offers the opportunity to support critical interventions and build experience in a high-volume emergency environment with experienced physicians, advanced monitoring, and dedicated emergency department support staff.

Travel Nursing Job Details

- Shifts: Three 12-hour shifts per week; evenings, 3:00 p.m.–3:00 a.m.
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend on a rotating schedule
- Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday or according to department needs
- Call Requirement: No regularly scheduled call
- Department Overview: 65-bed Emergency Department with private rooms and two trauma bays
- Charting: EPIC
Emergency Room RN Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse license in Illinois, or confirmation that the Illinois license application process has been initiated
- At least 1 year of acute care or Emergency Department nursing experience; 2 years preferred
- Prior travel nursing experience preferred
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Current ENPC or PALS certification
- Current TNCC or TNS certification
- Ability to care for patients ranging from newborns to older adults, including critically ill and trauma patients
- Proficiency in recognizing and responding to life-threatening cardiac rhythms
- Ability to titrate vasopressors, cardiac medications, antihypertensives, and other critical care infusions
- SANE RN experience and experience in a teaching-hospital environment are preferred
- Commitment to completing required screening and working in a drug-free clinical environment
Emergency Department Nursing Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive emergency nursing care for patients with medical, surgical, pediatric, cardiac, neurological, and traumatic conditions
- Perform rapid assessments, prioritize care, and respond effectively to changing patient acuity
- Care for critically ill patients, cardiac arrest patients, stroke patients, heart attack patients, and stabilized Level I and Level II trauma patients
- Administer medications and titrate critical care infusions according to clinical protocols and patient response
- Interpret cardiac rhythms and promptly identify and escalate life-threatening changes
- Assist with airway management and care for patients using ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen therapies in collaboration with respiratory therapy
- Collect blood specimens and support timely diagnostic testing and treatment
- Document assessments, interventions, reassessments, and outcomes accurately in EPIC
- Collaborate with emergency physicians, advanced practice providers, trauma teams, respiratory therapists, technicians, and other members of the care team
- Support trauma and critical care responses as needed after patients transition from the trauma bay
- Maintain a safe, organized, and patient-centered environment while managing multiple priorities
- Participate in rotating weekend and holiday coverage and assist with other department needs as assigned
