Join a fast-paced Level I Trauma emergency department as a travel ER nurse in Peoria, Illinois. This on-site travel nursing assignment offers the opportunity to provide emergency care alongside an experienced healthcare team in a 65-bed department with two trauma bays, diverse patient acuity, and exposure to medical, surgical, cardiac, neurologic, and trauma cases. Peoria is a welcoming central Illinois community known for its scenic Illinois River setting, cultural attractions, outdoor recreation, and convenient access to metropolitan amenities.
Travel Nursing Job Details

- Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend
- Holiday Schedule: Every other holiday or as determined by department needs

- Uniform: Tasteful solid-color scrubs; no specific scrub color required
Emergency Department RN Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois, or confirmation that the Illinois licensure process has been initiated
- At least 1 year of professional nursing experience; 2 years of emergency department experience preferred
- Prior travel nursing experience preferred
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- ENPC or PALS certification
- TNCC or TNS certification
- Strong emergency nursing assessment, triage, prioritization, and critical-thinking skills
- Ability to recognize and respond to life-threatening cardiac rhythms
- Demonstrated proficiency with vasoactive, cardiac, antihypertensive, and other critical-care medication infusions
- Ability to provide emergency nursing care for patients ranging from newborns to older adults, including critically ill and trauma patients
Emergency Nursing Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive emergency nursing care for patients with varying levels of acuity and a wide range of medical, surgical, cardiac, neurologic, and trauma complaints
- Assess, triage, stabilize, monitor, and reassess patients throughout the emergency care process
- Care for patients experiencing cardiac arrest, stroke, myocardial infarction, complex medical conditions, and traumatic injuries
- Support the care of Level I and Level II trauma patients after stabilization and transfer from the trauma bay
- Administer and titrate vasoactive, cardiac, antihypertensive, and other high-risk infusions according to clinical protocols
- Interpret cardiac monitoring and promptly identify and respond to life-threatening rhythms
- Collaborate with emergency physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapy, radiology, emergency technicians, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Perform or assist with laboratory specimen collection and other emergency nursing procedures
- Manage patients requiring ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen therapy in collaboration with respiratory therapy
- Provide clear patient education, accurate EPIC documentation, and effective handoff communication
- Participate in department operations, including occasional help-all assignments when needed; emergency nurses are not expected to take a full team assignment on another unit
