Description
American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for an Emergency Department position at a Level I Trauma Center, requiring TNCC, ACLS, BLS, and prior Level I trauma experience.
Details
- Level I Trauma Center Emergency Department, combined adult/pediatric population
- STEMI and Stroke Certified facility
- Average patient ratio of 1:6 for both day and night shifts
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- Assigned to one campus with possible float/crosstrain to other campuses and ED observation units
- Open to block scheduling
- Epic EMR used for charting
- Travelers do not staff trauma/rescue rooms, triage, or locked behavioral health units
Requirements
- Active CT or Compact RN license required (pending license accepted)
- Required certifications: TNCC, ACLS, BLS
- Preferred certifications: CPI, ENPC, NIHSS, PALS
- Minimum 2 years of ED experience required; will consider 1.5 years from a Level I trauma center or with travel experience
- Level I Trauma Center experience required
- Level II Trauma experience preferred
- Epic charting experience preferred
- Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
- Skills in IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, and blood product administration
- Experience with respiratory management including BiPAP/CPAP and ABG interpretation preferred
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG interpretation
- Experience managing psychiatric patients including acute psychosis, suicidal patients, and violent behavior
- Neurological care experience including CVA, ICP monitoring, and traumatic brain injury management
- Experience with orthopedic trauma and splint application
Additional Information
- Provide emergency nursing care within a large academic medical center setting
- Float within scope to other campuses and ED observation units as needed based on facility staffing needs
- RTO greater than 7 days requires additional approval
- Must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for travel rates
- Returning staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be considered as a traveler
- Flu vaccination required with no declinations accepted
- COVID-19 vaccination and booster required, with religious or medical exemptions only
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
