Travel Nursing Job Details

  • Patient Population: All age groups, including neonates, infants, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients
  • Department Volume: Approximately 130 visits per day with 47 treatment rooms
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Holiday Requirement: Holidays as scheduled
  • Floating: May be required within the nurse’s specialty and scope of practice
  • On-Call: No pre-scheduled on-call requirement

Emergency Room RN Job Requirements

  • At least 2 years of Emergency Department RN experience preferred; strong candidates with at least 1 year may be considered
  • Active Maryland or Compact RN license at the time of submission
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications from the American Heart Association
  • Current NIHSS and CPI certifications
  • Community hospital experience required
  • Strong emergency nursing skills and the ability to care for complex, rapidly changing patient conditions
  • Experience with Epic or another electronic health record system preferred
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and within a flexible travel nursing assignment schedule

Emergency Department RN Responsibilities

  • Perform rapid assessments, triage, stabilization, treatment, and ongoing reassessment of emergency patients
  • Provide emergency nursing care for patients with medical, traumatic, behavioral health, neurologic, respiratory, cardiac, and pediatric emergencies
  • Manage patients requiring emergency medications, IV vasopressors, blood products, procedural sedation, and continuous monitoring
  • Recognize and respond to dysrhythmias, stroke symptoms, STEMI, respiratory failure, sepsis, overdose, trauma, and multisystem conditions
  • Perform and support emergency procedures, including IV access, phlebotomy, 12-lead ECGs, chest tube management, central line care, splinting, and care of ventilated patients
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and communicate effectively with providers, patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members
  • Promote patient safety through infection prevention, isolation precautions, behavioral health interventions, and appropriate escalation of care
  • Float within the nurse’s competency and specialty scope as Emergency Department needs require
