Job Opportunity – Emergency Department Registered Nurse – Fullerton, CA 92835

Start Date: October 6, 2026

Location: Fullerton, California

Schedule: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM). Must be available to work at least 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule cycle, which may include consecutive weekends to meet unit needs. Scheduling preferences will be considered but cannot be guaranteed.

Highlights:

  • High-acuity, high-volume emergency department with approximately 230 visits per day and 36 beds with overflow units
  • Designated Stroke and STEMI Center at a Magnet-recognized acute care facility with 320 staffed beds
  • 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio with diverse case mix including geriatric, adult, and limited pediatric patients (10%)
  • Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, physical therapy, and lift teams
  • Common patient diagnoses include stroke, cardiac conditions, respiratory issues, abdominal pain, and sepsis
  • May float to telemetry hold and ICU hold units as needed; free parking provided

Requirements:

  • Active California RN license or Compact license (must be in hand at time of submission)
  • Minimum 1.5 years of emergency department nursing experience required
  • Stroke experience required (non-negotiable)
  • Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS
  • Preferred certifications: TNCC and CEN or CPN
  • Epic charting experience highly preferred
  • Proficiency in emergency medications, IV therapy, dysrhythmia management, procedural sedation, triage, 12-lead EKG, blood product administration, and drip titration
  • Must reside outside 50-mile local radius
  • Two professional references covering one year within the last three years required
