Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level II Trauma Emergency Department position requiring PEDS experience, Epic proficiency, and prior travel assignment history.

Details

  • Level II Trauma Center Emergency Department with a combined adult/pediatric population
  • Average daily census of 70 patients with 160 visits per day across 36 rooms and 50 beds
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating expected to ICU and ED under a helping hands/team nursing approach, including patient sitting
  • Will not be floated outside clinical assignment or team match
  • Utilizes Epic, Omnicell, SBAR, and Voalte systems
  • Uses specialized equipment including Point of Care US/USGPIV, EPOC, Belmont, Ranger, and Teleneurology

Requirements

  • Active RN license (NH or Compact) required
  • Minimum 2 years of ER experience required
  • Level II Trauma Center experience required; Level I Trauma experience preferred
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, CPI, PALS, TNCC (AHA or American Red Cross only)
  • Strong pediatric population experience highly preferred
  • Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, starting and maintaining IVs, neurological and CVA care, emergency medication administration, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, and triage
  • Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required
  • Full 7-year work history with all employment gaps explained
  • Drug screening must be completed within 14 days of the start date

Additional Information

  • Care for patients across the lifespan with diagnoses ranging from minor injuries to complex trauma, including chest pain, stroke, sepsis, psychiatric emergencies, and abuse/assault evaluations
  • Perform special procedures such as conscious sedation, trauma alerts, stroke alerts, cath lab activations, and SANE consultations
  • Unit orientation consists of 36 hours over one week of class and clinical time
  • Scrubs of any color are permitted
  • First-time travelers will not be accepted for this role
  • Former employees of any facility associated with the health system are not eligible for consideration, regardless of separation length
  • Travelers residing within 50 miles of the facility are accepted at the local rate
  • All requested RTO must be included at the time of consideration
