Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position in Des Moines, IA, requiring 15+ months of ED experience and an active TNCC certification.
Details
- Work in a 36-bed Emergency Department treating all patient types, including adults
- Maintains a 4:1 patient ratio
- Manages sedation, vasoactive, vasopressor, heparin, insulin, pain control, and antiarrhythmic drips
- Uses Epic EMR
- Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
- Required to work every 3rd weekend
- No on-call requirements
- Required to float across multiple campus locations
- Navy blue solid-color scrubs required
Requirements
- Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license required
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (AHA or ARC) required
- Active TNCC certification required
- NIHSS certification preferred, may be obtained during onboarding
- Minimum 36 months of current Emergency Department/Emergency Room experience required
- Minimum 15 months of emergency medicine experience required
- Experience with sedation and vasoactive drips required
- Experience reading telemetry strips required
- Proficiency with antiarrhythmics, heparin, insulin, and pain control medications required
- Recent Level I trauma center experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Recent travel nursing experience required
- Valid driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide emergency care to a diverse adult patient population, managing complex drips and telemetry monitoring
- Holiday coverage required for 1-2 of the 3 upcoming summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) unless the unit is closed
- One professional reference from a supervisor, charge nurse, manager, director, CNO, or COO within the last 24 months preferred
- Local candidates may be subject to a radius rule that reduces the standard bill rate
- Candidates who were previously employed by the facility's health system as FTE or PRN staff are ineligible for this travel position in another market
