Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a fast-paced Emergency Room setting serving a patient population ranging from pediatrics to geriatric
- Manage a patient ratio of 1:4 across a 40-bed unit with an average daily census of 30
- Care for patients presenting with respiratory conditions, chest pain, MI, STEMI, non-STEMI, stroke, and surgical cases, as well as trauma cases such as MVAs and fractures
- Provide care for psychiatric patients within the ED, which may include up to 6 psychiatric patients at a given time; CPI certification required for psych patient management
- Float within scope as needed — travelers are expected to float first with no restrictions
- Adhere to all compliance onboarding requirements, including lab completion within 72 hours of contract signing and submission of compliance documents no later than 5 days prior to start date
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in Maryland or a valid Compact license at time of submission
- BLS certification required (AHA only)
- ACLS certification required (AHA only)
- PALS certification required (AHA only)
- NIH Stroke Scale certification required
- CPI certification required — The Calm Every Storm online version is the only acceptable online vendor
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Room RN experience required; first-time travelers will be considered
- Must reside 50 or more miles from the facility to be eligible — locals under 50 miles are not accepted unless otherwise specified
- Block scheduling and special scheduling requests cannot be accommodated; all time-off requests must be submitted at the time of application
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with high-acuity diagnoses including stroke, STEMI, and cardiac conditions
- Comfort working with psychiatric patients in an ED environment
- Familiarity with trauma cases in a non-primary trauma center setting
