Registered Nurse (RN)

General Information

We are seeking a dynamic and versatile Registered Nurse to join our acute care team in a 35-bed facility located in a vibrant community. The facility includes:

  • Emergency Room: 9 treatment spaces
  • Intensive Care Unit: 4 beds
  • Medical-Surgical: 15 beds

Position Overview

The successful candidate will be expected to float between the Emergency Room, Intensive Care Unit, and Medical-Surgical units as needed. Experience in acute care, particularly in Med-Surg settings, is necessary. Candidates with emergency department or ICU experience will be given preference.

Patient Types

The nurse will work with a diverse patient population, including:

  • All ages
  • Conditions such as Sepsis, DKA, ETOH, ARDS, MI, Trauma, and Stroke

Patient Ratios

  • Emergency Department: 1:3-4
  • Intensive Care Unit: 1:1-2 (dependent on patient acuity/age)
  • Medical-Surgical: 1:5 (dependent on patient acuity/age)

Required Certifications

  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • TNCC
  • PALS
  • NIHSS (preferred)
  • CPI (preferred)

Required Education

Candidates must have completed a nursing education program that is approved by the Board of Nursing and must possess a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in South Dakota.

Skills Required

Ideal candidates will have:

  • General Emergency Department experience
  • Critical care experience suitable for ICU holds
  • Trauma experience
  • Complex wound care skills
  • Nursing assessment capabilities
  • Comfort in working across all care areas: ED, ICU, and Med-Surg

Support on the Unit

The nursing staff will have the following support:

  • 1 Charge Nurse (hospital coordinator)
  • Phlebotomy services available
  • Respiratory Therapy support
  • Hospitalist coverage with Advanced Practice Provider (APP) at night

Charting System

The facility utilizes the EPIC charting system.

Floating

The nurse may be required to float to the Emergency Department, Medical-Surgical, or Intensive Care Unit as trained.

Orientation

Orientation will consist of 2 days.

Scheduling

Weekend rotations will be required every other weekend, with holiday expectations every other holiday. Time-off requests can be approved for up to 7 days, with the requirement to extend the contract by one week for every week missed.

Additional Information

  • Scrub color will be navy blue.
  • Free parking is available for staff.
