Emergency Department Nurse

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Emergency Department Nurse to join our dynamic team in the Seattle, WA area. This position involves providing high-quality care to patients in a fast-paced emergency environment, with a focus on accountability and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver patient-centered nursing care to individuals presenting with a variety of emergency conditions.
• Conduct thorough assessments and triage patients based on urgency and medical needs.
• Administer medications and manage common drips including insulin and cardiac medications.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including physicians, mid-levels, and support staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Document patient information accurately in medical records.
• Participate in the orientation and training of new staff and travelers as needed.

Work Environment

The Emergency Department is equipped to handle a diverse range of medical issues, including trauma, strokes, and behavioral health. With a capacity of 17 beds and the ability to flex to 22 with hallway beds, the department is designed to manage fluctuating patient volumes efficiently.

Team Dynamics

Our team is cohesive and supportive, emphasizing respect and collaboration among all members—from nurses to techs. The department operates with a 1:4 nurse-patient ratio, and travelers are encouraged to integrate seamlessly into the team. Evening and night shifts may involve additional responsibilities as charge nurses, depending on the candidate's willingness.

Qualifications

• Must possess current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS.
• At least 1 year of experience in an emergency department setting is preferred.
• Experience with behavioral health is highly desirable.
• Ability to float to different facilities within the region as needed.

Schedule and Expectations

• Shifts are 12 hours, with start times varying throughout the day.
• Every other weekend and some holiday work is required.
• Orientation for new staff includes one shift of training with an experienced ED RN.

Dress Code

Standard scrub color is royal blue.
