Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring a CA RN license and at least 2 years of ED experience.

Details

  • Combined Adult/Pediatric Level II Trauma Center ED, STEMI and Stroke certified facility
  • 16-week assignment with 3x12 day shifts, alternating 7am, 10am, and 12pm start times
  • Every other weekend required or more depending on unit needs (Sunday not counted as a weekend day)
  • Possible floating required based on facility needs
  • No blocked schedules or guaranteed same schedules for travel pairs
  • Unit will likely not approve holiday or excessive time off requests
  • Meditech charting system experience preferred but not required

Requirements

  • Active CA RN license required
  • Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
  • Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, MAB (or CPI), NIHSS, PALS
  • TNCC certification preferred
  • AHA and Red Cross certifications accepted
  • Level II Trauma Center experience preferred
  • Skilled in dysrhythmia interpretation/management, 12-lead EKG acquisition, arterial line and central line care, blood product administration, phlebotomy, and IV starts
  • Experience managing multisystem organ dysfunction, neuro-trauma, CVA, ICP monitoring, and traumatic brain/spinal cord injuries
  • Experience with ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, ABG interpretation, intubation, and chest tube management
  • Experience administering emergency medications, IV vasopressors, continuous IV sedation/paralytics, and procedural sedation
  • Experience managing psychiatric and behavioral health presentations, including suicidal patients and psychiatric holds
  • Experience treating pediatric and adult ED presentations including asthma, burns, seizures, infections, and abdominal pain
  • Experience managing trauma cases such as gunshot wounds, traumatic amputations, and ortho-trauma
  • Skilled in triage and isolation precautions/PPE

Additional Information

  • Provide emergency care across adult and pediatric populations in a high-acuity trauma center setting
  • Rapid time off requests must be submitted upfront with the initial profile
  • Travel pairs are not accepted for this assignment
  • Former permanent employees must be separated from the facility for at least 365 days before returning as a traveler
  • Cancellation after acceptance may result in a Do Not Return designation, so full commitment is required
  • Annual competency modules must be completed, typically taking about 6 hours
