Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Dept - Onc Pod position requiring 2 years of ED experience, 1 year of travel experience, and an active OH or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in the Oncology Pod of the Emergency Department in a hospital setting
  • General ED serving combined adult and pediatric patients with an oncology focus
  • Level I Trauma Center, STEMI certified, and Stroke certified facility
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:30
  • 13-week assignment length
  • Floating required
  • EPIC EMR experience required

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department experience required
  • Minimum of 1 year of travel nursing experience required
  • Oncology experience preferred but not required
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS
  • Proficient in IV starts
  • Experience with telemetry monitoring, cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Experience obtaining 12-lead EKG/ECG
  • Skilled in triage and isolation precautions/PPE
  • Pediatric care experience including sickle cell crisis management
  • Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Two professional references required, with at least one from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role and the second from a Charge RN or higher; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide emergency nursing care within a specialized oncology pod setting
  • Responsibilities include respiratory care such as BiPAP/CPAP management and care of ventilated patients
  • Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs) required
  • IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central line care/management required
  • Administration of emergency medications and IV vasopressors required
  • RTO must be submitted and built into the contract at time of application, limited to 7 consecutive days
  • Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
  • Former employees eligible for travel assignments after 6 months away from the facility
  • Current employees of the health system are ineligible for travel positions at any facility within the system
  • Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing the contract, either in-person or via mailed packet depending on location
  • First-time travelers are not eligible due to required prior travel experience
