Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level 1 Trauma Emergency Department position requiring ACLS, PALS, and MO or Compact licensure.

Details

  • Level 1 trauma, Stroke, and STEMI-designated Emergency Department with an integrated Pediatric ED
  • Behavioral health/psych center is associated with the ED but does not receive float coverage
  • Typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4, occasionally 1:5
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 18:45-07:15
  • Alternating weekends and 50% holiday coverage required
  • Floating required between ED and ED Observation units
  • Cerner charting system preferred but not required

Requirements

  • Active MO or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications required
  • CPI certification preferred (required for Behavioral Health RNs, may be completed onsite if pending)
  • ATCN and TNCC certifications preferred
  • 2 years of RN experience required, with specialty experience preferred
  • Level I trauma experience preferred; Level II trauma experience required
  • First-time travelers considered if they have Level I trauma experience
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Pediatric ED experience preferred
  • Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and starting/maintaining IVs
  • Experience with arterial line management, central line care, and blood product administration preferred
  • Experience managing ventilated patients and interpreting ABGs preferred
  • Experience with continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors, and procedural sedation monitoring
  • Experience with neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury care preferred
  • Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and emergency response
  • Proficient in isolation precautions/PPE and triage
  • Ortho trauma experience a plus
  • Able to ambulate, reach, and move objects weighing over 20 lbs regularly

Additional Information

  • Provide emergency nursing care across a combined adult/pediatric trauma population, including head injury, near drowning, and spinal cord injury cases
  • Facility operates 24/7/365, requiring flexibility for rotating shifts, holidays, and inclement weather coverage
  • On-call availability required as part of essential job functions
  • Maximum RTO of 10 days, with none permitted during the first week due to orientation
  • Re-orientation not required for returning travelers within 18 months
  • Travelers residing within 50 miles are not eligible for this position
  • Travelers residing 51-74 miles away may be offered a local rate
  • First-time travelers welcome if they meet Level I trauma experience requirements
