Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring a WA or compact license, prior travel nursing experience, and 1 year of ER experience.

Details

  • 13-week assignment in a hospital Emergency Department
  • Treats adult and pediatric ER patients across ambulance triage, ED holding, and lobby triage areas
  • Unit includes 11 hallway beds and 29 standard beds for a total of 40 beds
  • Performs procedures including chest tube setup/care, CPAP/BiPAP, procedural sedation, RSI, trach care, and ventilator management
  • Administers blood/blood products, performs cardioversion/defibrillation, and manages cooling/warming blankets
  • Provides CRRT/dialysis support and obtains 12-lead EKGs
  • Utilizes rapid infuser equipment
  • Night shift schedule (3x12 hours), 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating to different campuses required
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
  • Schedules posted every 6 weeks with shift start times varying between 0700-1900

Requirements

  • Active WA or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
  • Minimum 1 year of ER experience required
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Trauma Level I or II experience preferred
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Experience with patient ratios of 1:4-5
  • Skills required include respiratory care, BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilator patient care, ABG interpretation, IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line care, continuous IV sedation, and IV vasopressor management
  • Experience with neurological emergencies including CVA, ICP monitoring, and traumatic brain injury
  • Experience with trauma cases including gunshot wounds, traumatic amputation, and spinal cord injury
  • Cardiac monitoring skills including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Two professional references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
  • Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide emergency care to a combined adult/pediatric patient population in a non-trauma Level I/II emergency department setting
  • Must be willing to float between sister facilities as needed
  • Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • Non-holiday requested time off is limited to 5 days, with additional time added to the end of the contract
  • Former permanent employees of any Providence-affiliated facility must be separated from the health system for a minimum of 3 months and reside outside a 50-mile radius to qualify
  • Candidates must disclose any prior employment history with Providence facilities, including permanent, travel, or per-diem work
  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
  • Local candidates within a 50-mile radius are accepted at a lower bill rate
