Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level I Trauma Emergency Department position requiring prior urban trauma experience and night shift availability.

Details

  • Work in a combined adult/pediatric general Emergency Department at a Level I Trauma Center
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00-7:30
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating required
  • Uses Epic charting system
  • On-call requirements not specified

Requirements

  • Active IL RN license required in hand
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS
  • Preferred certifications: TNCC, CPI
  • Minimum 1-2 years of ED experience required
  • Prior experience in an urban, Level I Trauma ED required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Epic charting experience preferred
  • Skilled in pediatric, psychiatric, respiratory, neurological, and trauma patient care
  • Experienced in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and 12-lead EKG acquisition
  • Skilled in triage, isolation precautions/PPE, and orthopedic splinting
  • Pending RN licenses not accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide emergency care across a wide range of conditions including trauma, psychiatric, respiratory, and pediatric cases
  • Perform procedures such as IV therapy, phlebotomy, and management of ventilated or sedated patients
  • Participate in care for shock/trauma cases including gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations
  • Block scheduling is not accommodated
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days with no RTO during the first or last week of contract
  • Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Former UChicago Medicine or Ingalls permanent staff must have a 7-month separation before applying as a traveler
