Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN for a night shift community hospital role requiring 3+ years of ER experience and dual Kansas/Missouri or compact licensure.

Details

  • Community hospital Emergency Department with 8 beds and an average daily census of 60
  • Single-floor facility with half designated to the ED and half to med-surg/intermediate care
  • Staffing model includes 1:1 ED RN coverage, providers, an MSI RN, charge nurse, paramedics, radiology tech, and patient access reps
  • Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
  • Weekend shifts required, with frequency varying based on staffing needs
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating required between departments, units, and community hospital ER facilities as needed
  • Uses Epic EMR for charting
  • Patient population includes ACS, CVA/TIA, respiratory conditions, sepsis, diabetic emergencies, trauma, behavioral health emergencies, and common acute illnesses

Requirements

  • Active RN license - Kansas and Missouri or compact license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS required; TNCC preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of ER experience required
  • Must have a full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no employment gaps greater than 90 days in the past year
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Skilled in obtaining 12-lead EKG/ECG, starting and maintaining IVs, and administering emergency medications
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
  • Two professional references required: one supervisor-level and one charge RN, both from within the past year
  • SSN and finalized RTO/scheduling requests required at time of consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide emergency care across a wide range of conditions including trauma, cardiac, neurological, psychiatric, and general medical complaints
  • Team-based care model working closely with providers, paramedics, and other ED staff
  • Staff take working lunches due to high patient volume
  • Compliance documents due two Fridays before start date, with 10-15 hours of required modules due one week prior to start
  • Infusion pump and glucometer training must be completed by the Sunday before start date
  • Choice of completing Epic test-out or Epic training module upon hire
  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this role
  • Candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are not eligible for consideration
  • No local candidates accepted
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days; all time-off requests must be finalized at time of consideration with no changes permitted afterward
  • Returning staff must have a 3-month break in service after 18 months of prior tenure
  • Former permanent employees of BJC or Saint Luke's must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • Travel partners are not accepted for this position
