Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 2 years of recent ER experience and an NC or compact license in hand.

Details

• Work in the Emergency Department of a hospital setting
• General Emergency Department serving combined adult/pediatric population
• Non-trauma Emergency Department setting
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Required to work every other weekend
• No on-call requirements
• Epic EMR experience required
• Bi-weekly orientation schedule

Requirements

• Active NC or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Room experience required
• Previous travel experience required with ED background
• Epic charting system experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Must pass EKG/Telemetry exam onsite during orientation
• Skilled in IV therapy including starting and maintaining IVs
• Experience with pediatric and adult emergency care including abdominal pain, infection, and respiratory conditions
• Experience with psychiatric emergencies including suicidal patients and acute psychosis preferred
• Experience with cardiac monitoring including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Triage experience and isolation precautions/PPE knowledge required

• Provide emergency nursing care across a wide range of adult and pediatric presentations
• Royal Blue scrub color required
• Flu vaccine required with no exemptions or declinations accepted
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Candidates must not have been permanent Duke University Health System employees within the past 6 months
• Local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius at a reduced rate
• Submit required time off requests, limited to 5-7 days maximum
• One supervisory reference from within the last year required for consideration
