Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a night shift position requiring compact or LA licensure and CPI certification.

Details

  • General Emergency Department serving combined adult/pediatric patients, including a dedicated Pediatric ED
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45-7:15)
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Epic charting system preferred
  • STEMI and Stroke Certified facility
  • Every other weekend on-call required
  • No call-in shifts

Requirements

  • Active RN license (Compact or LA) required in hand upon consideration
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and CPI (AHA certifications required)
  • NIHSS certification preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of ER nursing experience required
  • Skilled in trauma care including gunshot wounds, traumatic amputation, and traumatic brain injury
  • Experience managing cardiac dysrhythmias and obtaining 12-lead EKG/ECG
  • Skilled in triage, isolation precautions/PPE, and splinting
  • Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central line care
  • Experience managing psychiatric emergencies including acute psychosis, suicidal patients, and violent behavior
  • Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP management and care of ventilated patients
  • Up-to-date NURSYS report required with profile

Additional Information

  • Provide emergency nursing care across a wide range of adult and pediatric conditions, including respiratory, neurological, and psychiatric emergencies
  • Administer emergency medications, including IV vasopressors and procedural sedation
  • May be assigned to an emergency response team during facility emergency events, with potential requirement to remain onsite until relief arrives
  • Two Manager/Supervisor references required to obtain clearance to start (Charge RNs not accepted)
  • Orientation held five days a week
  • Candidates must reside more than 65 miles from the facility
  • Previous Ochsner Health permanent or in-house agency staff must have a one-year separation before returning as a travel employee
  • RTO must be disclosed and discussed during interview process
  • First-time travelers accepted, but less than 2 years of experience will not be considered
