Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring a compact or MD license and prior travel assignment experience.

Details

  • Work in a combined adult/pediatric Emergency Department
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 19:00 to 7:00, 36 hours per week
  • Approximately 150 patient visits per day
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Charge and triage responsibilities required, though charge experience may be waived for otherwise qualified candidates
  • IV starts and phlebotomy required
  • Cerner charting experience preferred
  • On-call required every other weekend and holiday rotation as needed
  • Clinicians will be trained on the unit before being expected to work charge

Requirements

  • Active RN license, either MD state license or compact license required
  • BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS certifications required
  • CPI, MAB, and TNCC certifications preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of recent ER experience within the last 7 years required
  • At least one previous travel assignment required
  • Charge and preceptor experience preferred
  • Skills required: IV therapy/phlebotomy, central line care/management, medication administration, and emergency medications
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and management preferred
  • Two supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment
  • Must pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with at least 80% overall and 100% on lethal rhythms

Additional Information

  • May come into contact with COVID-19 patients
  • Navy blue scrubs required and not provided by facility
  • No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment
  • Maximum of 7 days RTO allowed per 13-week contract
  • Local candidates within 60 miles accepted at a lower rate
  • Previous MedStar employees must have been separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler
  • Manager interviews are not guaranteed, and travelers should be comfortable proceeding without one
  • First-time travelers are not eligible for this role
