Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring NC or compact licensure and 3+ years of ER experience.

Details

  • >Emergency Department in a short-term acute care, Level III Trauma Center and teaching hospital
  • General Emergency Department serving combined adult and pediatric patients
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:00
  • 36 hours per week with holiday coverage required
  • Weekend requirement of every other weekend
  • Floating required between both campuses within scope
  • No on-call requirements
  • Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

  • >Active RN license (NC state or compact) currently in hand, pending license not accepted
  • Minimum 3 years of ER experience required
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, CPI, NIHSS, PALS
  • Preferred certifications: NRP, TNCC
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line care/management, starting and maintaining IVs, and administering emergency medications
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, and obtaining 12-lead EKG/ECG required
  • Experience managing psychiatric, drug overdose, and suicidal patients required
  • Preferred experience managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure and arterial line management
  • Previous charge experience preferred
  • Prior travel nurse experience required
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

  • >Provide emergency nursing care across a combined adult and pediatric ER population
  • May float within the hospital or to a sister campus depending on scheduling needs
  • Scrub color requirement: royal blue and white
  • Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius from the main campus to be considered as travelers, as locals within this radius are not accepted
  • RTO is limited to a maximum of 4 days and only 1 holiday may be approved, per manager's discretion
  • Call-off policy allows 2 shifts per 13-week assignment before guaranteed hours are affected
  • Previous employees must have been gone for 1 year to return as a traveler
  • Extensions are limited to twice for night shift and once for day shift, after which a 6-month break is required before reapplying
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
