Travel Nurse Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,620–$1,700

- Schedule: Three 12-hour night shifts per week
- Shift Hours: Approximately 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.
- Weekly Hours: 36 hours
- Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:4, based on acuity and activity
- Weekend Coverage: Required; a minimum of three weekend shifts per six-week schedule
- Patient Population: Neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
- Local Candidate Policy: Candidates residing within 50 miles are not eligible
Emergency Room Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico or a valid Compact RN license; pending licensure may be accepted if obtained before the start date
- At least 1 year of emergency nursing experience required; 2 years preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience required
- Community hospital experience required
- Level II trauma experience preferred
- Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications
- Experience with electronic health record documentation; Epic experience preferred
- Ability to care for a diverse emergency department population and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to float to like units, including medical-surgical or ICU/IMC assignments, as needed and within scope
Emergency Nursing Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate, and timely emergency care to patients across the lifespan
- Perform patient triage, focused assessments, ongoing reassessments, and emergency nursing interventions
- Care for patients presenting with respiratory, cardiac, neurologic, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, orthopedic, obstetric, pediatric, and minor trauma conditions
- Support the initial stabilization and medical management of stroke, STEMI, major trauma, and pediatric emergency patients prior to transfer when indicated
- Manage ventilated patients, BiPAP/CPAP, central lines, arterial lines, IV vasopressors, blood products, continuous sedation, and dysrhythmias
- Perform or assist with emergency procedures such as procedural sedation, chest tube care, central line management, ultrasound-guided IV access, splinting, and rapid sequence intubation support
- Recognize changes in patient condition and promptly communicate clinical findings to the interdisciplinary care team
- Maintain accurate electronic health record documentation and follow standards for infection prevention, patient safety, and emergency nursing practice
- Collaborate with respiratory therapy, radiology, pharmacy, laboratory, social services, interpretation services, and rapid response teams
