Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Department RN for a night shift assignment requiring a Florida or compact license, ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, and TNCC certifications.

Details

  • General Emergency Department treating combined adult and pediatric patients within a Level II Trauma Center
  • Night shift schedule of 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Required to work every other weekend, totaling 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule cycle
  • Required to work a major holiday of choice
  • On-call responsibilities as needed
  • Float requirement to all 4 facility locations (Holmes, Viera, Cape Canaveral, Palm Bay)
  • Uses EPIC for documentation

Requirements

  • Active FL or compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
  • EPIC charting experience required
  • Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, and TNCC (CPI preferred)
  • Previous travel nursing experience required
  • Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, IV starts and maintenance
  • Experience managing BiPAP/CPAP and ventilated patients, with ability to interpret ABGs
  • Experience with continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors, and procedural sedation administration/monitoring
  • Experience with neurological emergencies including CVA, ICP monitoring, neuro-trauma, and spinal cord and traumatic brain injuries
  • Experience with trauma cases including gunshot wounds, traumatic amputations, and ortho trauma
  • Experience interpreting and managing cardiac dysrhythmias
  • Previous acute care experience in a large hospital setting required
  • Two supervisory references (Manager, Supervisor, Charge Nurse, or Director) dated within the past year required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide emergency nursing care across a range of trauma, pediatric, neurological, and cardiac cases
  • Follow isolation precautions and PPE protocols, and perform triage duties as needed
  • Flu vaccine required between 10/31-3/31 with medical or religious exemptions only
  • Scrubs may be any solid color, self-provided or facility-provided, with matching top and bottom colors and no logos or prints
  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this role
  • Former employees or contracted staff must be separated from the facility for at least one year before returning as a traveler
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same travel rate with no radius restriction
  • Finalized RTO must be submitted with initial application and will not be accepted after offer
  • Travel pairs may be permitted with unit leader approval, though matching schedules are not guaranteed
