Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a GI/Endoscopy position at an academic Level I trauma center requiring moderate sedation management and recent GI/pulmonary procedure recovery experience.

Details

  • Work in the Endoscopy department of an academic teaching hospital
  • Day/evening shifts of 8 hours with rotating start times between 6:30 AM and 10:30 AM
  • Weeknight call requirement
  • May be required to stay past scheduled end time to complete the day's procedure schedule
  • Performs pre/post care for all levels of sedation including PACU Phase I and Phase II recovery
  • Utilizes RN-driven sedation assessment approach based on the Ramsay Sedation Scale
  • Recovers patients from sedated GI and pulmonary procedures including ERCP, EUS, EGD, colonoscopy, endoscopy, and bronchoscopy
  • Some patients receive general anesthesia rather than moderate sedation
  • Floating required as needed
  • Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

  • Active WI RN license or compact RN license (pending WI license accepted with submission)
  • Current AHA ACLS and BLS certification
  • CGRN certification preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience in the specialty within the last 3 years
  • Academic Level I trauma center or similar size hospital experience required
  • Trauma Level II experience required, Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • Epic EMR experience required, ideally within the past 12 months
  • Must be able to perform moderate sedation administration and monitoring
  • Experience recovering conscious sedation and monitored anesthesia care sedation
  • Skilled in airway management and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
  • Experience with medication administration including opioid analgesics, Propofol, Versed, and reversal agents
  • Experience obtaining 12-lead EKG/ECG and starting/maintaining IVs
  • Must pass a telemetry exam with strict passing criteria prior to start
  • Prior travel healthcare experience preferred, though highly experienced candidates may be considered

Additional Information

  • Responsibilities include administering and monitoring conscious sedation, recovering sedated patients, and managing airway care
  • Utilizes equipment such as bronchoscopy carts, electrosurgical units, ERBE, polyp snares, dilators, and forceps
  • Supports procedures including bronchoscopy, colonoscopy, EGD, EBUS, EUS, ERCP, and esophageal variceal banding
  • Must reside within 50 miles of the facility; local candidates not accepted
  • Located at a Magnet-designated facility ranked as Wisconsin's #1 hospital
