Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced GI/Endoscopy RN with at least 3 years of ENDO experience and recent pediatric, Cerner, and bronchoscopy experience for a hospital position requiring an IN or compact RN license.

Details

  • Endoscopy unit within a short-term acute care hospital
  • 1:1 patient care ratio, providing pre/post and intraprocedural care
  • High volume unit treating both pediatric (0 months-18 years) and adult patients
  • Pediatric cases scheduled Monday through Thursday
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12 hour shifts (6:30-19:00)
  • Block scheduling available for 3 consecutive days, Monday-Friday, at candidate's preference
  • On-call required: one Monday-Thursday shift (1700-0530) weekly and one weekend (Friday 1700-Monday 0530) every 6 weeks
  • Float required to PACU as needed, and to affiliate hospitals nearby
  • Unit performs Upper & Lower GI, Bronchoscopy, EBUS, and Pain Management procedures
  • Uses Cerner charting system; Provation experience preferred

Requirements

  • Active RN license, IN or Compact, must be in hand prior to start
  • Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications required
  • Minimum 3 years of ENDO experience required
  • Must have pediatric, bronchoscopy, and Cerner experience within the last 2 years
  • Cerner charting experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Skilled in administering and monitoring conscious sedation
  • Experience with Provation preferred
  • Experience with bronchoscopy, colonoscopy, EGD, esophageal varices and banding required; EBUS, EUS, and ERCP experience preferred
  • Skilled in obtaining 12 lead EKG/ECG and starting/maintaining IVs
  • Experience recovering patients from conscious sedation and monitored anesthesia care
  • Graduated from a nursing program accredited by ACEN or CCNE
  • Two supervisor references required

Additional Information

  • Responsible for circulating and scrubbing in GI/Endoscopy procedures
  • Care for patients pre-procedure, during procedure, and post-procedure including medication administration and specimen handling/labeling
  • Scrubs provided

  • Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
  • Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates (Indiana residents) are not accepted for this position
  • Any prior perm or PRN IU Health employee must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler
