Job Summary
A Registered Nurse (RN) specialized in Endoscopy Lab is needed at a major medical center located in Madison, Wisconsin. This role involves providing care during gastrointestinal and pulmonary procedures, including the administration of sedation. The RN will work as part of a multispecialty team, managing patient care in an outpatient setting with a daily census of 20-25 patients, and overseeing procedures in a four-room facility. The position requires recent experience in sedated GI and pulmonary procedures, with a focus on recovery, assessment, and monitoring of patients.
Job Details
- Schedule: Days, 8-hour shifts, rotating start times between 6:30 am and 10:30 am, minimum of 40 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid RN license, minimum two years of recent acute care experience in the specialty within the last three years, ACLS and BLS certifications, Epic electronic health record system experience, and the ability to pass required telemetry tests.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with moderate sedation administration, managing sedated GI and pulmonary procedures such as ERCP, EUS, EGD, Colonoscopy, and Bronchoscopy.
- Travel Experience Required: Yes.
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, and RN license valid in Wisconsin or a compact state.
- Skills: Administering conscious sedation, airway management, monitoring consciousness levels (e.g., Ramsay Sedation Scale), performing procedures involving balloon dilators, colonoscopy, endoscopy, and bronchoscopy, patient assessment, starting IVs, and handling sedatives like Propofol.
- Additional Information: The traveler will be required to pass a telemetry test prior to start, with two attempts allowed, and must meet strict clinical testing criteria. The successful candidate will provide care for adult and geriatric patients, with responsibilities including recovery management, sedation assessment, and collaboration within a surgical team. Applicants must be able to stay past shift hours when necessary and adhere to uniform and safety protocols.
