Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department night shift position requiring active IL licensure and at least 1-2 years of ER experience.

Details

  • Acute care hospital setting with 158 staffed beds
  • General Emergency Department treating combined adult/pediatric patients
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts, 18:30-7:00
  • Required to work every other weekend
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • No floating required outside the department
  • Uses EPIC charting system

Requirements

  • Active IL RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NRP, and NIHSS
  • CPI certification preferred
  • Minimum 1-2 years of recent ER nursing experience required in a fast-paced environment
  • Community hospital experience preferred
  • EPIC charting experience preferred
  • Skills required: IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, starting and maintaining IVs, care of ventilated patients, CVA management, administration of emergency medications
  • Skilled in cardiac monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, obtaining 12-lead EKG/ECG, and triage

Additional Information

  • Provide emergency care across a combined adult and pediatric patient population
  • Responsibilities include triage, cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and administration of emergency medications
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility to be considered
  • No more than 7 days of RTO allowed per contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week of the assignment
  • Previous permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
  • Standard travelers may work up to an 18-month period before requiring a 3-month break in service
