Schedule: Every other weekend; holidays required as scheduled
Patient Ratio: 1:4–6; Behavioral Health units 1:6
Charting System: Cerner – FirstNet and Launch
Float Required: Yes – within hospital/scope, including rapid evaluation units and locked Behavioral Health units
Call Requirement: None specified
Note: 3 years of ED experience required; 2 years may be considered from high-volume Level I/II trauma. First-time travelers accepted with 3+ years ED experience.

Position Overview:
Provide emergency nursing care in a 54-bed Emergency Department averaging approximately 120 visits per day, caring for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. The department includes rapid evaluation areas and two locked Behavioral Health units supported by ED staff and security.

Job duties:

• Perform emergency assessment, triage, stabilization, and ongoing monitoring for patients with varying levels of acuity.
• Initiate and maintain IV access, perform phlebotomy, administer blood products, and manage central and arterial lines as clinically indicated.
• Provide respiratory support including BiPAP/CPAP, ventilator care, continuous IV sedation, and emergency medication administration.
• Manage neurological and trauma emergencies including CVA, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, neuro-trauma, and head injuries.
• Monitor cardiac status, interpret dysrhythmias, administer IV vasopressors, provide procedural sedation, and respond to cardiac emergencies.

Requirements:
License: Active Maryland or Compact RN License at submission
Experience: 3 years Emergency Department experience; 2 years may be considered with Level I/II trauma experience
Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, Prophecy Relias Advanced Emergency Department assessment; 4-hour annual stroke CEUs required; CEN preferred
Other requirement: Community hospital experience required; precepting/training experience preferred; candidates must be comfortable floating within scope and supporting Behavioral Health and rapid evaluation areas.

Patient Population: Neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
Patient Diagnoses: Emergency and trauma conditions including CVA, neuro-trauma, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, head injury, orthopedic trauma, dysrhythmias, STEMI-related emergencies, shock/trauma, traumatic amputation, gunshot wounds, and other acute medical presentations.
