Job Summary:
Emergency Room (ER) Nursing position located in an acute care facility. The role involves providing care to a diverse patient population ranging from newborns to the elderly, with varying degrees of acuity. The ER team manages critical cases including trauma, strokes, and cardiac arrest, requiring skilled and adaptable nursing professionals to adhere to established protocols and deliver high-quality care.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Active Illinois nursing license or confirmation of application in process. Certifications including BLS, ACLS, and PALS or TNCC are required. A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience is preferred, along with experience in emergency or trauma nursing.
- Preferred Qualifications: Prior travel nursing experience; SANE RN experience; working at teaching hospitals with resident staff.
- Float: Float rotation may be required; typically as "help all" on other units, but this is infrequent.
- Additional Information: The ER handles all types of patients, including critically ill, trauma, stroke, and cardiac emergencies. Nurses must be proficient in titrating vasopressor and cardiac drips. The department operates with a minimum of three attendings per shift, charge nurses, house supervisors, ED techs, and respiratory therapists. Nurses interpret telemetry rhythms using Philips monitors, with orientation provided. Labs are drawn by nurses and techs, with radiology staff transporting imaging as needed.
- Shift and Scheduling: Shifts are scheduled by the management team with flexible options including block scheduling and every other weekend rotation. Holiday coverage and no call requirement for travelers. Floating to other units is rare and typically as "help all."
- Additional Notes: No specific scrubs color required; solid-colored shirts under scrubs are recommended. The start date for this assignment is 09/28/2026, with an end date of 03/29/2027.
