Emergency Room RN Job Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license; an active RN license from any U.S. state is acceptable
  • At least 1 year of recent emergency room, emergency department, or acute care nursing experience
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the American Heart Association
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within 1 year of hire
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) certification within 1 year of hire
  • Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification within 1 year of hire
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) completion within 6 months of hire
  • Emergency Severity Index (ESI) Level 5 competency within 3 months of hire
  • Patient Sitter Competency Training upon hire
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends, and provide emergency care to patients across the lifespan

Travel ER Nurse Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive emergency nursing care to patients of all ages and their families
  • Perform patient assessments, triage, monitoring, treatment, and reassessment based on patient condition and clinical priorities
  • Implement nursing interventions in accordance with provider orders, standards of care, and established policies and procedures
  • Recognize changes in patient status and respond promptly to urgent and life-threatening conditions
  • Administer medications and treatments safely while monitoring patients for therapeutic response and adverse reactions
  • Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to coordinate timely, effective patient care
  • Provide patient and family education, discharge instructions, and appropriate follow-up guidance
  • Accurately document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and clinical outcomes in the medical record
  • Demonstrate professional judgment and work independently while managing multiple emergency care assignments
