• Position: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN)

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020–$2,130

• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Shift Duration: 12-hour rotating shifts
• Shift Schedule: Possible shifts include 6:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m., 10:00 a.m.–10:00 p.m., 1:00 p.m.–1:00 a.m., and 6:00 p.m.–6:00 a.m.; mid-shift and occasional night assignments may be scheduled
• Weekend Requirement: Typically every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: One winter holiday and one summer holiday
• Call Requirement: None
• Floating: None
• Charting: Epic
• Scrubs: Gray scrubs provided
• Orientation: Typically three shifts alongside another nurse

Emergency Room Nurse Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Nebraska
• 3 or more years of emergency department experience preferred
• Current BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS or ENPC, and TNCC certifications
• Strong patient assessment, prioritization, communication, and clinical decision-making skills
• Ability to provide emergency nursing care to a diverse patient population, including approximately 20% pediatric patients
• Prior travel nursing experience is preferred but not required

Emergency Department RN Responsibilities

• Provide timely, compassionate emergency nursing care to patients with varied levels of acuity
• Assess and monitor patients presenting with abdominal pain, falls, chest pain, stroke symptoms, trauma, and behavioral health needs
• Care for adult and pediatric patients in a Level III trauma center and Primary Stroke Center environment
• Recognize changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions and escalation of care
• Administer medications and manage therapies including antibiotics, cardiac medications, heparin, TPA, and insulin infusions as ordered
• Perform IV starts, collect laboratory specimens when initiating IV access, and complete 12-lead EKGs as needed
• Interpret patient cardiac monitor strips and maintain accurate, timely documentation in Epic
• Collaborate with emergency physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapy, laboratory staff, technicians, and support personnel
• Safely transport monitored patients for diagnostic testing in coordination with the care team
• Participate in triage assignments when trained and scheduled, supporting efficient patient flow and safe disposition
