Accepting first-time travelers with at least 2 years of experience and Cerner experience.

Patient Types

The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4.

Required Certifications

ACLS
BLS
PALS
TNCC
NIHSS
CPI or similar

Skills Required

Candidates should possess skills in:

Trach care
Ventilator management
ICU drip care and maintenance
Chest tube management
Arterial line insertion and care
Central venous line (CVL) management
PICC line and midline care
Port access and maintenance
Foley catheter placement and care
Application and care of splints/orthotic devices
Use of BiPAP/hi-flow oxygen
Continuous bladder irrigation

Support on the Unit

Patient Care Technician (PCT)
Unit Assistant
Charge Nurse (typically not assigned patients)
Emergency Department MD
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) available at night
Emergency Care Technician (paramedic) from 11 AM to 11 PM

Technology & Equipment

Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Cerner
IV Pumps: Plum 360
Medication Dispensing: Omnicell
Monitors: Spacelabs

Orientation

New hires or those with over one year of experience will undergo:

24 hours of classroom instruction
24 hours on the unit

Scheduling

Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month if on block schedule.
Holiday Expectations: One major and one minor holiday per season as per policy.
Time Off: Up to 7 days off can be approved; longer requests require email approval.
Shift Times: 7 AM to 7 PM, 7 PM to 7 AM, 11 AM to 11 PM.
Schedule Cycle: 6 weeks.
