Job Summary
The Emergency Room (ER) nurse position is based in Artesia, New Mexico. This role involves providing high-quality emergency care in a busy trauma center with a variety of acuity levels, from minor injuries to major traumas such as STEMIs and strokes. The position offers an opportunity to work in a facility that is progressing towards Level IV trauma designation, with a focus on patient flow and effective emergency response.

  • Schedule: Days shift, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week

  • Required Qualifications: Certification in BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, ENPC, NRP, NIHSS; BSN not required; valid license to submit; at least 5 years of ED experience; ability to mix critical drips (e.g., Amio, Cardizem, Epi, Insulin); experience with trauma levels 1 or 2 EDs; capable of critical thinking and working independently; experience with various patient diagnoses including traumas, STEMIs, and strokes.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience working near oil fields and managing crush injuries, burns, and finger injuries.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Managing respiratory equipment, performing respiratory treatments, reading EKGs, interpreting tele strips, assisting in diagnostics such as X-ray and CT, and drawing labs when needed.
  • Other Details: No float rotation required; gown code navy blue; 1-2 days orientation with a preceptor; potential for holiday rotation; no call or standby requirement; weekend shifts every other; team includes RTs overseeing respiratory care; RTs perform ABG, breathing tx, and 12-lead EKGs.
