Job Summary
Emergency Room (ER) Nurse in Tacoma, WA The organization is seeking a dedicated ER Nurse with strong experience in emergency care to provide quality patient support in a Level II Trauma Center. This position involves working night shifts at a high-acuity facility that manages diverse patient populations from pediatrics to geriatrics, including trauma, sepsis, COVID, STEMI, stroke, and mental health cases.
Job Details
- Location: Tacoma, WA
- Shift Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Certifications, Education, and Experience: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS, CPI/MOAB; 1 year of strong emergency department experience
- Clinical Responsibilities: Providing care for trauma, sepsis, respiratory issues, mental health, and adult psych patients; cardiac rhythm interpretation; IV skills; medication administration; procedural sedation and blood transfusions
- Equipment and Systems: EMR (Epic), IV pumps (Alaris), medication dispensing (Pyxis), telemetry monitoring
- Support and Resources: ER techs, security, pharmacy, resource/float nurses (pending staffing)
- Orientation: First day includes badge issuance and Epic training, followed by a 12-hour shift with a preceptor
- Schedule Details: Night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM or 9:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with potential shift rotation; weekend every other; up to 5 days off; holidays include Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve, and New Years Day
- Additional Information: Support staff include charge nurses, resource nurses, and a 24/7 house supervisor, ER educator, and security available around the clock.
