Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for an Emergency Department position requiring Level I Trauma experience and an active IL RN license.

Details

  • Level I Trauma Center Emergency Department, combined adult/pediatric
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating required
  • Uses Epic charting system
  • No block scheduling accommodations

Requirements

  • Active IL RN license required in hand
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS
  • Preferred certifications: TNCC, CPI
  • Minimum 1 year of ED experience required
  • Prior experience in an urban, Level I Trauma ED required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Epic charting experience preferred
  • Skilled in emergency care across pediatrics, psychiatric, respiratory, neurological, cardiac, and orthopedic presentations
  • Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and management of critically ill patients

Additional Information

  • Provide emergency nursing care for a wide range of acute conditions including trauma, cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and behavioral health cases
  • Manage shock/trauma cases including gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations
  • Perform triage, isolation precautions/PPE, and orthopedic splinting as needed
  • Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias and obtain 12-lead EKGs
  • RTO limited to a maximum of 7 days
  • No RTO permitted during the first or last week of the contract
  • Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
  • First-time travelers welcome to apply
  • Former UChicago Medicine or Ingalls permanent staff must have separated from employment for at least 7 months to be eligible
