Job Summary
Emergency Room (ER) Nurse in a Level III Trauma Center This position involves providing high-quality emergency care to a diverse patient population in a dynamic emergency department setting. The role includes managing acute presentations such as abdominal pain, chest pain, fever, cough, and injuries, requiring swift assessment and intervention.
Job Details
- Location: Medical facility in compliance with a 60-mile radius policy.
- Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association), ACLS (American Heart Association), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course).
- Education & Experience: Minimum of 2 years of ER experience required.
- Responsibilities include managing common ED drips such as cardiac, antihypertensive, antiarrhythmic, sedation, and analgesia medications.
- The ER operates a self-scheduling and block scheduling system.
- Weekend requirement: Full and part-time employees are expected to work at least six weekend shifts per six-week schedule.
- Holiday coverage may be required.
- The ED has a triage area, separate psych/seclusion rooms, and in-house security 24/7.
- Nurses may be involved in monitoring, troubleshooting vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow devices, and reading telemetry strips.
- RT services are available 24/7, and all radiology services such as X-ray and CT are available.
- The ER admits approximately 40+ patients daily.
- The charge nurse does take assignments, and RN staff are responsible for drawing labs or working with phlebotomy.
- The unit uses EPIC as its charting system, and BSN is not required to submit license.
- The unit will conduct orientation during the week of start, with the candidate required to be in the state for the entire week.
- Candidates must submit a drivers license (DL) as part of the hiring process.
