Job Summary:
Emergency Room (ER) registered nurse position in a regional trauma center located in Winston-Salem, NC. This fast-paced unit handles a wide variety of high-acuity trauma, stroke, STEMI, burn, and other critical cases, providing essential care for diverse patient diagnoses. Candidates must have at least two years of experience in a trauma center with a strong ability to manage emergency and acute care situations.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Night shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Active RN licensure, BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC certifications; minimum 2 years of trauma center experience; location in or willing to work within the designated area.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with trauma, stroke, STEMI, burn care, or critical care environments.
  • Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: Multi-trauma, gunshot wounds, stabbings, MVCs, MI, CVA, hypothermia, drownings, falls, conscious sedations, defibrillations, cardiac and respiratory arrests, sexual assault cases, overdoses, psychosis, pacing, ventilator management, blunt trauma.
  • Patient Ratios: RN: 3:1 to 6:1 depending on clinical area and acuity; LPN: 4:1 to 6:1 based on clinical area and acuity.
  • Certifications & Licenses: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC.
  • Support within the Department: ED Techs performing ADLs, vital signs, catheter placements; unit secretary; charge nurse; 24/7 critical care pharmacist, paramedic staff, telemedicine support, hospitalist, intensivist, and specialized coordinators.
  • Technology & Equipment: Epic Electronic Medical Record system; Alaris infusion pumps; Omnicell medication dispensing; Phillips monitors; GE Ultrasound and EKG machines; GE EFM for fetal monitoring.
  • Floating: Possibility to float to the Emergency Department Transition Care Unit as needed.
  • Orientation: Two-day departmental orientation provided.
  • Other notes: Scrub color: royal blue; parking is free.
