Emergency Room Nurse

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Emergency Room Nurse to provide high-quality care in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in emergency services, particularly in managing an elderly population and pediatric patients in a Level II facility.

Schedule

• Shift: 12 hours, Night (7 PM - 7 AM)
• Weekly Hours: 36 hours
• Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirements: As needed

Job Responsibilities

The Emergency Room Nurse will be responsible for:

• Providing comprehensive assessment and treatment to patients in the emergency room.
• Coordinating care with other medical professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Administering medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Performing diagnostic tests, including EKGs, and interpreting the results.
• Maintaining accurate patient records and documentation in the electronic health record system.

Qualifications

Applicants should meet the following qualifications:

• Active Illinois nursing license.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• NIH Stroke certification.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) or Trauma Nurse Specialist (TNS) certification.
• At least 2 years of experience in an emergency room setting.
• Proficiency in the use of Epic electronic health record system.

Orientation

New hires will undergo an orientation process including 16 hours of non-billable training.

Testing Requirements

Candidates must submit proof of a passed EKG test with an 80% score or higher and will be required to pass an EKG test on their first day.
