Travel Nursing Job Details

• Position: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Rapid Response / Pediatric Oncology
• Location: Asheville, North Carolina
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,470–$2,600
• Contract Duration: 8 weeks
• Start Date: September 24, 2026
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
• Hours: 36 hours per week
• Unit: 19-bed pediatric and oncology inpatient unit
• Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:3 to 1:5
• Weekend Coverage: Six weekend shifts during the assignment, including two Saturdays
• Orientation: Four-hour organizational orientation followed by an eight-hour unit shift
• Floating: May include PICU and NICU coverage based on operational needs
• Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs or a white scrub top

Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in North Carolina
• At least 1 year of recent inpatient nursing experience
• Recent pediatric hospital experience required
• Pediatric oncology nursing experience strongly preferred
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
• APHON certification required for oncology assignments
• Strong patient assessment, organization, communication, and clinical prioritization skills
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and participate in scheduled weekend coverage

Pediatric Oncology RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to pediatric and oncology patients throughout each shift
• Complete comprehensive nursing assessments, monitor changes in patient condition, and escalate concerns promptly
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with established clinical standards and patient care plans
• Support patients and families through complex diagnoses, procedures, and treatment plans
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, patient care technicians, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Manage patient assignments with attention to acuity, safety, and individualized care needs
• Document patient care accurately in the Cerner electronic medical record
• Utilize Alaris infusion pumps and other unit equipment safely and effectively
• Respond to rapid changes in patient status and assist with emergency interventions within scope of practice
• Maintain a detail-oriented, organized approach while supporting high-quality pediatric and oncology care
