American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level I Trauma Center requiring active MA RN license and Level I trauma experience.

Details

  • Work in the Emergency Department of a Level I Trauma Center
  • Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00
  • Shift start time may flex up to four hours earlier or later based on urgent critical department staffing needs, though this is very rarely invoked
  • Union facility with no special scheduling accommodations, must be able to work all 7 days
  • EPIC EMR experience preferred
  • Care for patients requiring respiratory support and ventilator management
  • Perform cardiac monitoring and emergency response including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Provide care within a Psych/Behavioral Health ED setting
  • Triage responsibilities required

Requirements

  • Active MA RN license in hand required
  • Minimum 1.5 years (18 months) of RN experience required, 2+ years preferred
  • Level I Trauma Center experience required
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS
  • Preferred certifications: NIHSS, TNCC
  • Must be able to read and interpret telemetry
  • Skilled in respiratory care and care of ventilated patients
  • Skilled in cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
  • Triage skills preferred
  • Two references required for consideration, at least one from a Nurse Manager or higher

Additional Information

  • Must pass a Medication exam and a Telemetry exam (80% passing score) during orientation, each with only one attempt allowed; failure results in immediate contract cancellation
  • RNs working in Mother Baby/Postpartum, Ambulatory, OR, SACU, and Psych units are exempt from the Telemetry testing requirement
  • Study materials are provided throughout the compliance process and facility-directed interviews to help prepare for required exams
  • Modules must be completed pre-start, during orientation, and annually
  • Assignment length options range from 13-26 weeks, with 36 or 48 hours per week available
  • One major winter holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year's) must be included in requested time off
  • Priority given to candidates with minimal RTO requests and those accepting 26-week contracts
  • Up to 14 days of RTO may be submitted for review, with no RTO allowed during the first week of the assignment
  • Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate within a 75-mile radius
  • Candidates must reside within 200 miles to be eligible for consideration
  • Returning staff must have a 12-month separation from the health system
  • Candidates with prior disciplinary actions on their nursing license will not be considered
  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
