Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level 3 Trauma Center Emergency Department requiring 3-5 years of ER experience in a Level 3 or higher facility and a WA or compact RN license.

Details

  • 24-bed Emergency Department, including 8 behavioral health rooms in a locked unit
  • Level 3 Trauma Center and Level 3 NICU facility
  • Patient population includes psych, trauma, general medical, sepsis, cardiac, stroke, and abdominal/chest pain cases
  • RN to patient ratio of 1:4-5, with traditional travelers able to take up to 1:5-6 with low acuity patients
  • 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend rotation required
  • No regular floating required, though traditional travelers may occasionally float to a free-standing ER or elsewhere within the facility as a helping hand
  • Support staff includes 2-4 ER techs per shift, receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, 24/7 RT and hospitalist coverage, and resource nurse
  • EPIC EMR required for all RNs
  • Uses Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing system

Requirements

  • Active WA or compact RN license required
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (or ENPC for traditional travelers), NIHSS, TNCC (or ATCN for traditional travelers), and MOAB/CPI (may start without MOAB/CPI)
  • 3-5 years of ER experience in a Level 3 trauma center or higher required (traditional travelers require 2+ years)
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • Skilled in RSI, conscious sedation, and management of lines/drains/tubes
  • General ER skills required

  • First-time travelers will be considered for traditional traveler positions
  • Holiday coverage required as needed per unit
  • Standard time-off requests of up to 7 days are approved, with additional requests requiring nurse manager approval
