Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Dept position at a Level II trauma center and comprehensive stroke center, requiring TNCC and CPI certifications.

Details

  • 101-bed Emergency Care Center in a high-volume ED with over 100,000 annual visits
  • Patient ratios typically 4:1 medical, up to 7:1 for behavioral health holds
  • Support staff includes techs for cardiac monitoring, internal processing, triage, and unit clerks
  • Uses Baxter pumps and GE monitors for patient care
  • Charting completed in Cerner
  • Night shift schedule from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
  • Every other weekend required with scheduling based on departmental needs
  • No block scheduling or special scheduling accommodations
  • No floating outside the ED, but must be flexible to work all ED sections
  • 16-week assignment with holiday coverage required

Requirements

  • Active RN license (NC or compact)
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI, NIHSS, and ENPC
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience with at least 1 year in an ER setting
  • Level II trauma center and comprehensive stroke center experience required
  • High-volume ED experience (100,000+ visits) required
  • Previous HCA experience preferred
  • Strong teamwork orientation with ability to coach and provide real-time feedback
  • Flexibility to work across all ED sections
  • No gaps in work history exceeding 90 days within the past 12 months
  • US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Deliver emergency nursing care across triage, cardiac monitoring, and internal processing areas
  • Follow AIDET and patient experience standards, including updated patient boards and continuous communication
  • Required to update patients throughout their visit per departmental expectations
  • Navy scrubs required as part of uniform dress code
  • Attendance policy provided on first day
  • Known for a collaborative, welcoming team culture serving a multicultural community representing over 120 languages
  • Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates not accepted
  • Holiday coverage required for this assignment
  • RTO and special scheduling requests will not be accommodated
