Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Department RN for a 16-week assignment requiring 2 years of ER experience in a Level II trauma center and multiple specialty certifications.

Details

  • 101-bed Emergency Department at a Level II trauma center and comprehensive stroke center
  • Night shift schedule from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
  • Every other weekend required; block scheduling and special scheduling requests cannot be accommodated
  • Patient ratios typically 4:1 for medical patients, up to 7:1 for behavioral holds
  • Support staff includes techs in cardiac monitoring and internal processing, triage, and unit clerks days and nights
  • Uses Baxter pumps and GE monitors
  • Documentation via Cerner
  • No floating outside the ED, but must be flexible to float to all sections within the ED
  • 16-week contract assignment with holiday coverage required

Requirements

  • Active RN license (NC or Compact)
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience with at least 1 year in an ER setting
  • Experience in a Level II trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, or high-volume ED (100,000+ visits annually) required
  • Previous HCA experience preferred
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS, and ENPC prior to consideration
  • CPI certification required prior to start date
  • Strong teamwork mentality with ability to coach and give real-time feedback
  • Flexibility to work in all areas of the ED
  • No employment gaps of 90+ days in the past 12 months

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care in a fast-paced, high-acuity Emergency Department
  • Deliver patient experience standards including AIDET, respectful behavior, and consistent patient updates throughout visits
  • Maintain updated patient boards and communicate status changes to patients
  • Department known for strong teamwork and a welcoming, multicultural environment serving a community with over 120 languages
  • Navy scrubs required as part of the dress code
  • Attendance policy provided on first day of assignment
  • Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; no local candidates accepted
  • RTO and special scheduling requests will not be accommodated
