Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level 3 Trauma Center, requiring 2+ years of ED experience and multiple critical care certifications.

Details

  • 12-hour night shift position, 36 hours per week
  • Emergency Services unit at a 123-bed, Level 3 Trauma Center community hospital
  • 21 beds, plus 8 hallway, 5 fast track, and 4-12 outpatient overflow beds
  • Patient population includes geriatric, abdominal pain, chest pain, stroke, psych, and respiratory cases, with 15% pediatric patients
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4, structured in pods with 8 patients shared among 3 nurses
  • Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing system
  • Weekend rotation every other weekend
  • No on-call requirements
  • No floating required

Requirements

  • Active WA or compact RN license required
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI or MOAB, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 2 years of ED experience required, 5 years preferred
  • Skills required in TNK administration, conscious sedation, chest tube management, and central lines
  • Epic EMR experience required

Additional Information

  • Support staff includes phlebotomy-certified ER techs, 24-7 receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, respiratory therapist, and hospitalist coverage
  • Many ER nurses are trained in ultrasound-guided IV placement; a dedicated VAT team is available Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm
  • Department and critical care float pool available as backup support, though no dedicated resource nurse
  • One week of orientation includes NEO, Epic training, skills check-offs, and 2-3 precepted shifts
  • MHS Tele Test must be completed prior to arrival
  • One holiday coverage expected per contract
  • Up to 7 days of RTO can be approved
  • Scrubs of any professional color permitted
  • Free parking available
  • Facility does not have a dedicated cardiac cath lab; cardiac catheterization patients are transferred to a nearby facility
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
