Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 2+ years of ED experience and a WA or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in a 32-bed Emergency Department with an average daily census of 90-110 patients
  • Patient population includes general ED complaints such as abdominal pain, chest pain, shortness of breath, behavioral health, and geriatric patients, with rare pediatric and occasional L&D cases
  • RN to patient ratio of 1:4, with PCT ratio of 1:6-12
  • Variable day/mid shift schedule with potential for mid/evening shifts (start times include 0600, 0900, 1100, 1200, 1500, 1800)
  • 36 hours per week on a 12-hour shift schedule
  • Every other weekend rotation required
  • No on-call requirements
  • No floating required
  • Support staff includes PCT, 24/7 receptionist/HUC, charge nurse (non-patient assignment), 24/7 respiratory therapy, 24/7 hospitalist coverage, ED physicians and mid-level providers
  • Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing system

Requirements

  • Active WA state or compact RN license required
  • Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, TNCC, and MOAB 1&2 or CPI
  • Strong general ED clinical skills required
  • Strong soft skills including teamwork, organization, communication, and time management

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive emergency care to a diverse patient population including behavioral health and geriatric cases
  • General hospital orientation followed by 1-2 shifts on the unit with a preceptor and 2-3 independent shifts to learn facility flow
  • Holiday coverage required as needed per unit
  • Up to 7 days RTO approved automatically, with additional requests requiring nurse manager approval
  • Any scrub color permitted
  • Free parking available
  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
