Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring NM or compact RN license and prior Level II (Level I preferred) trauma experience.

Details

• Level I Trauma, teaching hospital with 554 staffed beds
• Emergency Department with a patient ratio of 1:5
• Approximately 60%-80% of the ED census is admitted, with many rooms functioning as ED Holding
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30
• Contracted for 36 or 48 hour weeks (48 hours only for travelers with both Level 1 trauma and travel experience)
• Scheduled for weekends as needed (Fri/Sat/Sun nights, Sat/Sun days)
• Floating to Peds ED is optional; floating to Adult PCUs is expected based on staffing needs, with potential floating to ED Holding and Trauma
• No on-call requirement
• Cerner charting system used

Requirements

• Active NM or compact RN license, may pend at time of submission
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, and TNCC (TNCC required before submission, NIHSS may pend until compliance due date)
• RQI certifications not accepted in lieu of standard certs
• Minimum 2 years of ED experience required (1.5 years may be reviewed)
• Level II trauma experience required, Level I trauma experience strongly preferred
• Cerner charting experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy and cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation/management required
• Additional preferred skills include arterial line management, central line care, blood product administration, care of ventilated patients, continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors, procedural sedation, and trauma/resuscitation experience with CVA, neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, gunshot wounds, and traumatic amputation

Additional Information

• Administer medications including IV medications following the seven rights, and document/communicate clinical findings
• Provide emergency and trauma nursing care within a Level I Trauma, STEMI, and Stroke certified facility
• First-time travel nurses may be considered if they have 2+ years of Level I trauma experience, though travel experience is strongly preferred
• Must work 2 of the 3 holiday bundles (Thanksgiving/day after, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, New Year's Eve/Day); Christmas RTO is not permitted
• RTO greater than 7 days requires approval; no RTO during the first 7 days or last day of the contract
• Facility may call off shifts up to 3 times during the 13-week assignment
• Scrub color is black or not provided
• Does not accept local candidates within 100 miles of the facility
• Non-local driver's license required on file
• Former staff must have a 12-month separation before returning
• Travelers who have worked 4 consecutive assignments or reached one year must take a 6-month system break
