Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Department RN for a 13-week evening shift assignment requiring pediatric ED experience and CA RN licensure.

Details

• Work in a General Emergency Department serving combined adult/pediatric patients
• Level I and Level II Trauma Center environment
• Evening shift, 3x12 hours (3:00 PM - 3:30 AM)
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Requires Epic charting system experience
• Ability to float to other UCSF facilities within a 75+ mile radius if job specifications are met

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required at time of submission
• BSN required
• Required certifications: AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS
• Preferred certifications: CPI, NRP, OCN, SANE, TNCC
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience required
• Pediatric ED experience required
• Community hospital experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred and must be noted in employment history
• Trauma Level I and Level II experience preferred
• Epic charting experience required
• Prior travel assignment experience within the last 12 months required
• Skilled in trauma care including gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG/ECG interpretation
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration
• Experience managing respiratory conditions including BiPAP/CPAP and ventilated patients
• Experience with neurological emergencies including CVA, ICP monitoring, and traumatic brain injury
• Experience with psychiatric emergencies including acute psychosis, drug overdose, and suicidal patients
• Experience with pediatric conditions including asthma, seizures, and head injury
• Skilled in triage and isolation precautions/PPE
• Skilled in orthopedic trauma and splint application
• Two professional references from most recent employer required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive emergency care across adult and pediatric trauma, medical, and psychiatric cases
• Manage high-acuity patients including shock/trauma, multisystem organ dysfunction, and neuro-trauma
• Administer emergency medications including IV vasopressors, continuous sedation, and paralytics
• Work within a Level I and Level II Trauma Center, STEMI-certified and stroke-certified facility
• COVID-19 vaccination and booster required, or proof of scheduled booster appointment prior to start
• Any previous employment with University of California medical facilities or their acquired facilities must be disclosed with dates, units, and manager names for rehire eligibility review
• All requested time off must be disclosed and approved by the manager at time of offer
• No time off permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate as travel candidates
