Emergency Department RN Travel Job Details

• Position: Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN)
• Location: Asheville, North Carolina
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020–$2,130
• Start Date: October 19, 2026
• Contract End Date: February 8, 2027
• Contract Duration: Approximately 16 weeks
• Schedule: 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour nights, 6:45 p.m.–7:15 a.m.
• Healthcare Setting: Approximately 101-bed Emergency Department within a Level II trauma and comprehensive stroke center
• Patient Ratios: Typically 4:1 for medical patients; up to 7:1 for emergency department behavioral holds
• Documentation System: Cerner
• Equipment: Baxter pumps and GE monitors
• Uniform: Navy scrubs

Emergency Department Travel Nurse Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in North Carolina
• At least 2 years of nursing experience, including a minimum of 1 year of Emergency Department or emergency nursing experience
• Recent experience in a Level II trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, or high-volume Emergency Department preferred
• ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS, and ENPC certifications required before submission
• CPI certification required by the date of hire
• Ability to work collaboratively, coach peers, and provide real-time feedback
• Flexibility to work in all areas of the Emergency Department
• Willingness to work every other weekend and follow department scheduling needs; block scheduling is not available
• Strong patient-service skills, including respectful communication, timely updates, and a commitment to keeping patients informed

Emergency Department RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients in a fast-paced, high-acuity Emergency Department environment
• Assess, triage, monitor, and reassess patients according to clinical priorities
• Respond effectively to trauma, stroke, medical, behavioral health, and other emergent presentations
• Administer medications and treatments while maintaining accurate documentation in Cerner
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, technicians, clerks, and interdisciplinary team members
• Work across all sections of the Emergency Department as needed; floating is limited to areas within the department
• Use Baxter pumps, GE monitors, and other department technology safely and effectively
• Communicate with patients and families using compassionate, culturally responsive care practices
• Keep patients informed throughout their visit and ensure care boards are updated appropriately
• Support a positive team environment through mentoring, teamwork, and constructive feedback
