Travel Nursing Job Details

  • Scheduling: Every other weekend required; block scheduling is not available, and schedules must support departmental needs
  • Documentation System: Cerner
  • Equipment: Baxter pumps and GE monitors
  • Patient Ratios: Typically 4:1, with behavioral health holds occasionally reaching 7:1

Emergency Room RN Job Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in North Carolina
  • At least 2 years of nursing experience, including a minimum of 1 year of emergency department experience
  • Experience in a Level II trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, and high-volume emergency department strongly preferred
  • Ability to provide emergency nursing care in a high-volume environment serving more than 100,000 emergency visits annually
  • ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS, and ENPC required before submission
  • CPI certification required by the start of the assignment
  • Strong teamwork, communication, patient advocacy, and real-time coaching skills
  • Flexibility to work in all sections of the emergency department
  • Navy scrubs required

Travel ER Nurse Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe, compassionate, and timely emergency nursing care to patients with medical, surgical, behavioral health, and trauma-related needs
  • Perform focused nursing assessments, prioritize care, implement interventions, and monitor patient responses
  • Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition in a Level II trauma and comprehensive stroke center
  • Work collaboratively with providers, technicians, unit clerks, and multidisciplinary healthcare team members
  • Remain flexible across all areas of the emergency department while supporting changing patient-care demands
  • Use Cerner to accurately document assessments, interventions, reassessments, and discharge information
  • Promote a positive patient experience through respectful communication, clear updates, and consistent attention to patient needs
  • Maintain accurate patient boards and keep patients and families informed throughout the emergency department visit
  • Support a culture of teamwork by coaching peers and providing constructive feedback in real time
