• Minimum Years of Experience Required: 2+ years of Emergency Department experience for travelers; 4 years minimum for CAP
• First-time travelers: Not accepted

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses

• General ED complaints
• Abdominal pain
• Chest pain
• Shortness of breath
• Behavioral health patients
• Geriatrics
• Rarely pediatrics
• Occasional labor and delivery patients

Staffing Ratios

• RN: 1:4
• PCT: 1:6-12

Required Licenses and Certifications

• BLS
• ACLS
• PALS
• NIHSS
• TNCC
• MOAB 12 or CPIS

Skills and Qualifications

• General Emergency Department skills
• Soft skills: Team player, organized, strong communication, time management

Department Support

Support staff includes PCTs, Receptionists/HUCs, Charge Nurse (who does not take patients), and Phlebotomists available 24/7.

Technology and Equipment

• EMR: EPIC
• IV Pump: Alaris
• Medication Dispensing: Pyxis

Orientation and Training

• General hospital orientation
• 1-2 shifts on unit followed by 2-3 shifts to learn facility
• CAP will work in numbers 2-3 weeks to learn flow of the unit before pairing with a resident

Scheduling

• Weekend rotation: Every other
• Holiday expectations: As needed per unit
• Approval of time off: Up to 7 days, additional days require email to Nurse Manager
• Shift times include: 0600-1830, 0900-2130, 1100-2330, 1200-0000, 1500-0330, 1800-0630
• Mid/ever contracts considered with shifts starting at 1200-1500
• Nights: 4-6 weeks, pending resident assigned FTE
• Schedule cycle: Every 4 weeks
